Yuli Yoel Edelstein visits Warsaw

The Speaker of the Knesset, the unicameral legislature of Israel, on Monday met Polish President Andrzej Duda and senior politicians during a trip to Warsaw, TheNews.PL reports.

Yuli Yoel Edelstein met the Speaker of Poland’s lower house, the Sejm, Marek Kuchciński, and Stanisław Karczewski, the Speaker of the upper house, the Senate.

Edelstein laid a wreath in front of a plaque commemorating Polish deputies who died in the 2010 presidential plane crash near Smolensk, western Russia.

He was also expected to visit the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews on the site of the former Warsaw Ghetto.

Edelstein was invited on an official visit to Poland by Kuchciński.

Edelstein is an Israeli politician who was born in present-day Ukraine. He emigrated to Israel in 1987. He has been in the Knesset for 21 years.

Edelstein is actively involved in fighting anti-Semitism around the world. The Israeli media have dubbed him one of the 50 most influential Jews in the world.
