The Polish government has won this year’s European Large Families Confederation (ELFAC) award for its 500+ programme to aid families, the wPolityce weekly reported. The award will be collected on Friday at the VIII Conference of the European Large Families in Riga by Polish Labour and Social Policy Minister, Elżbieta Rafalska, the weekly said.
ELFAC, which was founded in 2004, encompasses more than 50 million EU citizens from large families. It provides assistance to families with children, particularly large families.
The 500+ programme is a government aid initiative to pay out PLN 500 (EUR 113) a month to families for the second child onwards. The programme is aimed at increasing Poland’s birthrate.
