
A woman killed by a man with a machete in the southern German city of Reutlingen on Sunday was Polish, the Polish Foreign Ministry has confirmed. The man, a 21-year-old Syrian refugee, was detained shortly after the attack.
The attack occurred on Sunday afternoon. The German tabloid “Bild” has reported that the man got into an altercation with the woman, who worked in a kebab shop, and then fatally wounded her with a machete.
The attacker also wounded five other people while running away from the scene, German media have reported.
The reasons for the attack have been unconfirmed so far, but according to the German police the man acted alone and there is no indication that this was a terrorist attack.
