The Fuego Volcano in southwestern Guatemala erupted on Thursday (May 4) sending a spectacular display of lava and thick smoke shooting out of its crater.

The volcano, locally named Volcán de Fuego (Volcano of Fire), has erupted numerous times over the past 10 years, including an eruption in 2018 which left more than 190 people dead.
