Poland’s Defence Ministry has ordered 90,000 more assault and sniper rifles from the domestic manufacturer Lucznik.
Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak signed an amendment to an existing contract at the company’s base in the central city of Radom on Friday, for the purchase of MSBS GROT 7.62x51mm NATO sniper rifles and MSBS Grot assault rifles, 90,000 weapons in total.
“In 2023, I have already approved two contracts for GROT rifles from the Radom-based Fabryka Broni Lucznik,” Blaszczak said.
Blaszczak said the latest order was important both for the Polish Armed Forces and the manufacturer as it offered growth prospects and could create new jobs.
“We are determined to replace the Soviet-era weapons still used by the Polish Armed Forces with Nato-standard weapons,” Blaszczak said. “Such weapons are manufactured in Poland, and in large numbers.”
