Video of wild boar fending off bloodthirsty wolf pack goes viral as viewers flood internet with support for the pig

Footage taken in forests near the village of Mrzeżyno in northwest Poland shows the desperate boar sending the wolf pack scattering as it charges into them before they regroup to launch another attack.

This is the extraordinary moment a lone wild boar is seen fending off a pack of bloodthirsty wolves.

Taken in forests near the village of Mrzeżyno in northwest Poland, footage shows the desperate animal confronting the hunting pack as they attempt to encircle it.

The boar is then seen sending the wolves scattering as it charges into them before they regroup to launch another attack.

Wildlife photographer Sławomir Skukowski who captured the rare moment told the local Głos Szczeciński newspaper: “I have been setting camera traps for many years and I have never recorded such a moment.”

He added: “I’ve seen many things but this is a lifetime first.”

The three-minute-long video has now gone viral with viewers flooding social media with support for the boar.

One viewer said: “As a rule, I don’t like boars, but I was rooting for this one.”

Another commented: “I secretly hope the boar has escaped, but I’m afraid the wolves haven’t given up on eating. Wolves are very smart animals.”

While yet another wrote: “Wolves are very smart, they can judge whether he will be a threat to them by fighting for his life and whether he can get tired quickly, and in hunting they have their own developed strategies, and this experienced boar also knew how to defend himself against this pack.”

Meanwhile, one observer noted: “It doesn’t look like an attack, more like they are unintentionally in his way and watching him from a safe distance out of curiosity and dodge when he advances in warning.”

Commenting on whether people should be cautious when walking through forests, photographer Skukowski said: “All stories about attacking wolves are fairy tales.

“When a wolf senses a human, it stays away. Once I had a close encounter with a wolf and I never felt threatened.”
