Pulse of Culture 20.10

In this episode of TVP World’s Pulse of Culture, our programme’s host Agata Konarska introduces a report on the 16th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition.

The competition consists of 30 concerts in Poland and 30 abroad. In Europe, the winner of the Competition performs with orchestras in Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

They also get the opportunity to perform in Asia, both Americas, and Africa, in such illustrious concert halls as the Salle Gaveau in Paris, the National Concert Hall in Taipei, the Seoul Art Center, the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, as well as The Liszt Academy in Budapest.

The Japan Arts Association has bestowed its prestigious Praemium Imperiale on the distinguished Polish pianist Krystian Zimerman for leaving an indelible mark in his field of art. He is the third artist from Poland to receive the award.

The year of Polish Romanticism celebrations is taking on an increasingly international; dimension. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the Polish Institute in Berlin present the video installation ‘Romanticism’. The audio-visual interpretation of Adam Mickiewicz’s seminal ballad is currently permeating Berlin’s city space.
