Warsaw mayor tops ranking of Poland’s most trusted politicians

The mayor of Warsaw is Poland’s must trusted politician, even coming ahead of the president, a new poll has found.

The survey for the Onet.pl website, conducted by the IBRiS pollster, found that 42 percent of the public trusted Rafał Trzaskowski, the capital’s mayor and a prominent opposition politician, while President Andrzej Duda came a close second with 41.5 percent.

Mateusz Morawiecki, the prime minister, was third on 39.4 percent.

Trzaskowski’s result was only slightly down on an earlier survey in July, when he enjoyed the trust of 42.2 percent of pollees. He was distrusted in August by 39.2 percent of the public while 16.8 percent were indifferent.

Duda headed the July survey, but slipped in August by 1.9 percentage points (pps). Of those surveyed, 46.8 percent did not trust the president and 10.9 percent were indifferent.

The least trusted political figure was Zbigniew Ziobro, the justice minister and prosecutor general, with 64.3 percent of respondents expressing distrust in him, almost the same result as in the July poll (64.2 percent).
