In this episode of TVP World’s Pulse of Culture, our programme’s host Agata Konarska took a closer look at the BBC Proms, the world’s largest classical music festival, taking place in London.
“This year’s eight-week celebration will feature 84 concerts, with 73 of these taking place in our spectacular auditorium. The season will feature large-scale repertoire not heard at the festival since 2019, plus the return of international orchestras including the newly-formed Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra,” the Royal Albert Hall official website wrote.
This episode also featured the preparations for the 2022 Booker Prize, the most prestigious literary award in the English-speaking world. The long list of the books eligible to win the prize will be announced on July 26, the shortlist on September 6 and the winner on October 17.
Other events covered in this episode include the purchase of a unique Bob Dylan record at the Christie’s Auction House in London, an exhibition of Francisco Goya’s works at the Cervantes Institute in Kraków and the “Mythologies” ballet recently released at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux.
