Brazilian kid bumps into wild puma in school bathroom

David Miguel, a 9-year-old Brazilian said he ‘trembled like a jelly’ after bumping into a wild puma in his school’s bathroom during a Saturday football game in Nova Lima.

A footage that went viral on social media shows the animal hissing aggressively in one of the cabins.

“It went ‘grrr’, making my heart almost stop,” the boy later told local media.

As reported later, the city’s firefighters confined the animal in the room until the arrival of environmental officers and a vet, who sedated it. No one was injured and environmental authorities said the animal was released back into the wild, unharmed.

According to experts, wild animals can now be seen much more frequently in urban areas due to deforestation.

“We know this has been happening due to increased deforestation, large wildfires, and the destruction of the natural habitat of these animals,” said Marcos Mourao, a veterinarian participating in the puma’s rescue.
