World News 11.03: Zelenskiy and Stoltenberg addres Polish National Assembly

The Polish National Assembly has heard addresses from the president of Ukraine and the secretary-general of NATO. They spoke of Poland’s commitment to supporting Ukraine. President Joe Biden announced more US trade sanctions on Russia.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Secretary-General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg took part in Friday’s sitting of the Polish National Assembly, the combined two chambers of parliament. The meeting marked the 23rd anniversary of Poland’s accession into NATO.

More US trade sanctions on Russia
President Joe Biden announced that the US is imposing a ban on Russian seafood, alcohol and diamonds. This is another move of the many sanctions the US and its allies have imposed against Russia since the invasion.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign affairs accused Ukraine of plotting a major provocation. Ukrainians were supposedly planning to stage a chemical attack and blame it on Russia. Now, Ukrainians are accusing Russia of preparing a false flag attack of its own.

Russia has put forward unfound claims to the United Nations about the discovery of a Ukrainian-American designed biological weapon located on Ukrainian soil. Some Western officials are concerned, that these claims are part of a pretext operation being prepared by Russia during the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Ukrainian children find shelter in Poland
About 350 Ukrainians have already found a safe haven at the Polish health resort and hospital in Ustroń. They are mostly children, many of which are orphans. They are all healthy but in need of psychological help.
