World News 06.03: Russians violate ceasefire again

As Russian aggression on Ukraine continues, the artillery shelling and airstrikes targeting civilians and infrastructure in dozens of Ukrainian cities are becoming more intense. Although the Russian forces suffer heavy losses, they still continue to mobilise new forces into the fight.

Russian bombardment foils civilian evacuation plan

The Ukrainian National Guard reported that the Russian forces once again violated the ceasefire, making it impossible for civilians to flee for the humanitarian corridor. The corridors were to be established from the city of Mariupol and Volnovakha. At least three people have died due to the Russian artillery fire targeting the corridor.

Diplomatic efforts to stop the war continue

On Saturday, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Polish PM mateusz Morawiecki and Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau. As Mr Morawiecki reported after the meeting, the ongoing conflict in the East, as well as the issue of finding alternative sources of gas and oil supplies, were among the main topics of the talks.

Over 1.5 Ukrainians have fled their homeland so far

As bullets and rockets tear through buildings in Ukraine, many choose to leave their lives behind, protect their families and seek refuge in other countries. The number of Ukrainians fleeing the ongoing war to neighbouring states has reached 1.5 million within ten days, with over 1 million of them choosing Poland as their destination.
