Polish tennis player Iga Świątek beat Estonia’s Anett Kontaveit 6:2, 6:0 in the final of the WTA 1000 women’s hard court tournament in Doha, Qatar, on Saturday.

The tournament’s prize pool stood at USD 2.33 million.

The match lasted a little over an hour and Kontaveit gave her Polish opponent resistance only in the first set.

Seeded seventh in Qatar, Świątek faced the fourth-seeded Estonian for the fifth time in her career, beating her for the third time.

It was 20-year-old Świątek’s fourth final, not counting the Grand Slam French Open, which she won in 2020. Last year, she triumphed in Adelaide and Rome and three years ago lost a deciding match in Lugano, Switzerland.

Świątek will pocket USD 380,000 for her victory in Doha and should rise in the WTA ranking to fourth in the world on Monday, the highest position of her career.
