Poland’s health minister has announced that detailed information regarding the further loosening of Covid restrictions till June 26 will be announced on Wednesday.

“We are rather thinking about cosmetic changes,” Adam Niedzielski told reporters on Tuesday.

“Tomorrow, we will present information about what will happen till June 26, that is the beginning of summer holidays. Plans regarding the more distant future will be presented on Monday,” Niedzielski added.

Earlier in the day, the government’s spokesman said that the further loosening of Covid restrictions would likely be announced in the coming days.

“I expect the first step towards a further easing of the current restrictions to be announced in the first half of June,” Piotr Mueller said on Tuesday.

“The second step will be taken in the second half of the month,” Mueller told a Polish public radio programme.

Recalling that some restrictions regarding sanitary regulations had been lifted on Friday, Mueller said that “the situation has been getting better and better day by day, and the number of vaccinated Poles has been on the rise.”

“At the moment, we have been analysing what steps can be taken,” Mueller added.

Last Friday, Poland re-opened indoor dining at restaurants, with 50-percent occupancy and maintaining the necessary sanitary guidelines, including distancing between tables. Swimming pools, fitness clubs and solariums opened their doors although visitor numbers are limited, also adhering to a 50-percent occupancy.
