
“After April this year. the state budget had a surplus of PLN 9.2 bn,” the Minister of Finance, Funds and Regional Policy Tadeusz Kościński told the Polish Press Agency (PAP). He pointed to the increase in VAT revenues in April, which can be partially explained by the statistical base effect.
According to data from the Ministry of Finance provided to PAP, budget revenues after April amounted to PLN 147.1 bn (EUR 32.5 bn), and PLN 137.9 bn (EUR 30.47 bn) in expenses.
“In April this year, state budget revenues were PLN 12.6 bn (EUR 2.78 bn) higher than those achieved in April 2020. The highest annual increase was recorded with VAT and personal income tax. After April, the budget recorded a surplus of PLN 9.2 bn (EUR 2.03 bn),” Minister Kościński said.
At the end of March this year, the budget had a deficit of PLN 3.4 bn (EUR 0.75 bn). The budget act for 2021 envisages that the state’s revenues in 2021 will amount to PLN 404.4 bn (EUR 89.36 bn) and expenditures to PLN 486.7 bn (EUR 107.54 bn), which produces a maximum deficit of PLN 82.3 bn (EUR 18.19 bn). At the end of January this year, the budget had a surplus of PLN 6.6 bn (EUR 1.46 bn), and after February, the state had a surplus of PLN 876.3 mln (EUR 193.63 mln).
