A company belonging to Spanish renewable energy group Ibereolica will build a wind farm in the Pomorskie province, northern Poland, the group’s second investment in recent months.

The cost of the farm to be located in Dębnica Kaszubska is estimated at PLN 100 mln (EUR 22 mln), the investor said in a Tuesday press release.

“We are starting construction works, which we want to finish by December 2021. Then our power plant will start delivering green, ecological, emission-free electricity to the grid,” said Xavier Canals from the management board of DK Farma Wiatrowa, the company responsible for the project.

The Dębnica Kaszubska farm, consisting of six turbines of total capacity of 20.7 MW, will provide energy to some 15,000 households.

This is Ibereolica’s second investment in Poland. A few months ago, the company began the construction of a 145 MW wind farm with 42 turbines in Biały Bór, Zachodniopomorskie province in north-western Poland. According to last year’s report, the investment, worth about PLN 675 mln (EUR 149 mln) is to be ready next year. The Biały Bór wind farm will supply energy to over 100,000 recipients.

On the report of the WindEurope association based in Brussels, which promotes the use of wind power in Europe, Poland was the 9th largest wind energy market in Europe in 2020, with 9-percent share of wind energy in the country’s energy mix.
