We will be firm in enforcing COVID-19 restrictions: Interior Minister

“State services’ actions towards people who break social solidarity, who lack imagination and responsibility for others, will be very decisive,” said Minister of Interior Affairs and Administration Mariusz Kamiński.

During a press conference on Friday, Mr Kamiński referred to the epidemic situation in Poland as “dramatic, but not hopeless”. “On the contrary, mass vaccinations are being carried out, tens of thousands of citizens get vaccinated each week, this gives a real prospect for improving the situation,” he assessed. He also stressed that it is necessary to follow the rules of social discipline.

“These are simple rules and each of us can implement them in our own best interest, but we must also remember about our responsibility for other citizens. Irresponsible behaviour may endanger others’ health and life,” he said.

He added that for this reason “the actions of state services towards people who break the social solidarity, who lack imagination and responsibility for others, will be very decisive”.

“We are heading in the right direction, however, the situation is difficult and requires extraordinary actions on the part of the government, but also requires enormous social discipline. By acting jointly and in solidarity, we will cope with the pandemic,” he said.

The Ministry of Health reported a record-breaking 35,143 new coronavirus infections on Friday. As it stands, there are 391,438 active cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in Poland. A total of 5,594,790 people have been vaccinated so far.
