Family has been targeted by Brussels elites: Dep Minister of Justice

Deputy Minister of Justice Marcin Romanowski commented on Wednesday’s debate in the EP about the situation of LGBT people. In his opinion, it is an example of the ideologisation of political discourse in the EU and the exclusion of views other than those advocated by the “leftist mainstream”.

During the plenary session of the European Parliament, there will be a debate with representatives of the European Commission and the EU Council on the situation of LGBT people in the European Union. MEPs will vote on a resolution, declaring the EU an LGBT “freedom zone”.

In Mr Romanowski’s opinion, the “constitutional identity” of individual states is ignored. States may shape, for example, marriage law, at their discretion.

“In Poland, marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman,” he emphasised. The proposed resolution “violates Poland’s right to shape our legal system in accordance with Christian values,” he added.

The subject was also commented on by Sebastian Kaleta, also Deputy Minister of Justice.

“Last July we warned that the regulation binding the payment of EU funds with the arbitrary decisions of the European Commission would in fact lead to the European Union imposing on Poland the extreme left-wing ideology and demands of the LGBT circles through its institutions,” Mr Kaleta said.
