Visegrad Group states to pool forces on digital technology

Four IT organisations from the Visegrad Group countries have formed a Digital V4 platform to aid their governments in joint digital projects.

The Digital V4 project follows the February 17 Digital Declaration signed by the prime ministers of the Visegrad Group states (Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary), in which they pledge to cooperate in major digital technology undertakings.

The organisations – Cyfrowa Polska (Poland), ASE (Czech Republic), ITAS (Slovakia) and IVSZ (Hungary) – announced in a joint statement on Tuesday that they would support the cooperation of their countries in areas such as cyber-security, robotics, cloud technology, big data technology, artificial intelligence, telecommunications and digital skills.

According to the organisations cyber-security “lies in the forefront of development in the 21st century and requires joint and concentrated activity, in order to ensure the safety of information society and modern business in the Visegrad Group.”

Michal Kanownik, head of Cyfrowa Polska, is glad that governments want to cooperate in projects related to digitisation and modern technologies.

“They are the key to the growth and the construction of modern economies in our region,” he said.
