
“Coastal Defense Vessels ‘Miecznik’ will be built in Polish shipyards”, the head of the Ministry of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak, announced on Tuesday.
During an interview with the Polish Radio, the head of the Ministry of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak, spoke about the plans to build frigates under the ‘Miecznik’ programme. “The ships will be built in Polish shipyards, we will use Poland’s potential”, he stressed.
“Yesterday I organised a briefing. We talked about it with the commanders of the Polish Army,” said Mr Blaszczak, adding that “the ship will have anti-missile and anti-aircraft defence capabilities”.
The purchase of two ‘Miecznik’ coastal defense vessels, produced by Polish industry, was included in the technical modernisation plan of the Polish Armed Forces for 2021-2035.
