Poland on route to normalise relations with Israel

The Israeli news website “Ynet” reports that Jarosław Kaczyński sent a signal indicating his willingness to end the diplomatic crisis between Poland and Israel. The site also claims the leader of the Law and Justice party wanted the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs to come to Warsaw.

“Our reports show that such a visit would symbolise a new opening in cooperation. Sources suggest that the end of the crisis is to be accompanied by tightened cooperation in various fields: economy, health, energy and science,” said the Ynet article.

Jerusalem was to respond favorably to the cooperation, but was troubled by the recent “sentencing of Polish historians for writing about the Holocaust”.

The sentencing involved the authors of the book “Dalej Jest Noc” (The Night is Still Here). The District Court in Warsaw decided that prof. Jan Grabowski and prof. Barbara Engelking must apologise to Filomena Leszczyńska for the misinformation about her uncle Edward Malinowski contained in the book, describing Mr. Malinowski as complicit in the murder of jews.
