Polish prosecutor to investigate horse auction

The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Lublin, eastern Poland, has opened an investigation into the auction sale result of a prize mare at the recent Pride of Poland event.

The world-famous Pride of Poland Arabian horse auction in Janów Podlaski, eastern Poland, in August raised EUR 1.27 million, a figure less than hoped, with the star of the auction being sold twice.

The 16-year old mare Emira was expected to achieve the highest price at this year’s auction.

However it was initially sold for EUR 550,000 and then re-auctioned and sold for EUR 225,000 after the first buyer withdrew.

The prosecutor’s office was notified by two MPs from the opposition Civic Platform (PO) party, Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska and Dorota Niedziela.
