2nd congress of “Vilniuks” unites Poland and Lithuania

The 2nd Congress of “Vilniuks,” Polish natives of Vilnius who live here and those who have their roots here and want to maintain and share their Polishness, Polish Senate Speaker Stanislaw Karczewski said at the House of Polish Culture in Vilnius on Sunday.

Speaker Karczewski, on a one-day visit to Vilnius, met with the participants of the congress held under the slogan “Vilnius connects us.” The project, addressed to Poles associated with Vilnius and the Vilnius region, was reactivated after a ten-year break.

“This is the second congress after a ten-year break and we see how important it is for Poles who left Vilnius, but were born here, have their roots here and who return here,” said the speaker. He added that both those who left and those who continue to live in Vilnius connect Poland and Lithuania and want to nurture, share and present their Polishness.

The speaker emphasised the “increasingly better relations between Lithuanian and Polish authorities also contribute to the good climate and atmosphere of the congress.” “I would like to assure you that we will maintain and further develop these relations,” said Karczewski.
