Poland is one of the seven countries that will spend 2 percent of their GDP or more on defense; I’ve been saying for some time now that Poland is one of NATO’s leaders – US Ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
Mosbacher informed via Twitter that in 2019, the United States will spend 3.42 percent of GDP on defense, which equals, as she pointed out, 22 percent of the whole NATO budget.
“Poland is one of the 7 countries that will spend 2 percent of their GDP or more on defense in 2019. Congartulations! I’ve been saying for some time now that Poland is a leader in the #NATO!” – the US Ambassador wrote.
In accordance with the law on modernisation and financing of the Polish Army, amended in 2017, defense spending is to gradually increase up to 2.5 percent of GDP by 2030.
