The Polish police launched a road safety campaign on Friday, when children leave school for a year and families leave for holidays.
Police are to step up patrols along routes towards Poland’s major vacation destinations.
“We’re not trying to make life difficult for drivers. We are trying to ensure the safety of people heading for holidays,” said policeman Radosław Kobryś.
More than 650 people died on Poland’s roads during summer vacation last year, Kobryś added.
The Safe Vacation campaign ends on September 2.
