Ukraine’s foreign minister has condemned Monday’s burning of a Polish flag outside the Polish embassy in Kyiv, calling the incident a provocation.
Pavlo Klimkin said on a social media site that the incident was “an attack on Polish-Ukrainian friendship”.
Meanwhile, an official from the Ukrainian embassy in Warsaw that was called into the Polish foreign ministry in relation to the incident said Ukrainian services were trying to quickly identify and punish the culprits.
About a dozen people burned the flag on Monday but none of Ukraine’s extremist organisations admitted to the incident, according to reports.
The Polish foreign ministry on Tuesday said it was appalled at the lack of an appropriate reaction from the Ukrainian security staff at the Polish embassy in Kyiv.
