Business Arena 16.11

On Wednesday’s episode, Business Arena’s host Rafał Tomański kicked off the show with our main stories which were: the economic benefits of the Schengen area’s enlargement and tough words for Russia at the Bali G20 summit.

The Schengen area may soon be expanded by an additional three member states, following a speech made by the Commissioner of European Union’s home affairs on Wednesday. Established in 1985, The Schengen Area has a population of almost 420 million people and an area of over 4.3 million square kilometres. Each year, around 1.3 billion crossings of Schengen borders are made out of which nearly 60 million are those of road transport of goods worth EUR 2.8 trillion annually.

To shed more light on the issue, TVP World invited Prof. Zbigniew Krysiak from the Institute of Schuman`s Thought.

Another topic of the episode was the possible ways to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which were discussed during the G20 summit in Bali Indonesia on November 15.

Wednesday’s show also covered other topics:

– Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said in an interview that he is planning to donate most of his wealth to fighting climate change and mending social and political divisions.

– E-commerce giant Amazon is planning to cut thousands from its workforce starting this week, according to anonymous sources cited by the New York Times.

– The recent havoc caused by fake verified Twitter accounts, which posted controversial tweets shared by thousands of users and wiped billions from the market caps of several multinational corporations, has prompted a number of companies to leave the platform.
