Ukrainian Air Force offers help in investigating missile hitting Poland

The Ukrainian Air Force said it would support “as much as possible”, the investigation into Tuesday’s missile explosion in the Polish village of Przewodów, near the border with Ukraine, which killed two people near the Polish border with Ukraine.

Why the missile hit Poland and who launched it are now the subject of an official investigation.

The United States and #NATO countries would fully investigate before acting, Biden said.

Air Force spokesman Yuri Ihnat said on Wednesday that “a proper analysis is underway. The Air Force will support [the investigation] as much as possible, specialists will be involved if necessary, and we will provide certain materials.”

Not first such incident

“This is a really high-profile situation and it’s not for the first one,” he added referring to an incident in Moldova a few weeks ago.

“Russian missiles that attacked Ukraine flew through the airspace of sovereign Moldova, were shot down by our air defences after crossing the Ukrainian border with Moldova and fell on Moldovan territory,” the spokesman said.

Debris from a Russian missile shot down by Ukrainian air defenses landed in a border village in Moldova, officials said.

The incident would “be considered as an accident,” Moldova’s deputy interior minister said.

The spokesman made it clear that Ukraine was only defending itself against missile strikes by the Russian army. On November 15, 10 missiles were shot down in the Lviv region.
