Ukraine’s president says Russian missiles hit Poland

Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, has said that Russian missiles hit Polish territory on Tuesday and called the incident “a significant escalation”.

The AP news agency on Tuesday quoted a senior U.S. intelligence official as saying that Russian missiles crossed into Poland, killing two people.

“How many times has Ukraine said that the terrorist state will not be limited to our country?” Zelensky said in a recorded speech on Tuesday.

“And today, Russian missiles hit Poland, the territory of our friendly country. People died. Please accept condolences from all Ukrainian brothers!” the Ukrainian president added.

“This is a really significant escalation. Action is needed,” Zelensky added.
