Poland’s prime minister has praised Polish and US Air Force pilots serving as part of Nato’s Air Shielding operation on the Alliance’s eastern flank.

Addressing the pilots at their base in Lask, in central Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki said they formed “a magnificent airborne team which protects Poland and the eastern part of Nato.”

According to Nato, the Air Shielding operation “provides an enhanced posture that allows the Alliance to deter potential threats from the sky.”

Morawiecki thanked the Polish and US airmen for “defending Polish skies and strengthening the Nato alliance.”

Praising the unit’s Polish airmen, he called them “fearless in the fight for freedom,” and stressed that they were “heirs to the great legends of Polish aviation.”

Accompanying Morawiecki to Lask were Mariusz Blaszczak, the defence minister, and the US ambassador to Poland, Mark Brzezinski.
