Progressives outrage over relocating illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations

A group of illegal immigrants landed on the wealthy Massachusetts island of Martha’s Vineyard on Wednesday. The illegal aliens were moved as part of Florida’s relocation programme aiming to transport illegal immigrants to “sanctuary destinations”, areas, mostly controlled by Democrats, that do not comply with federal immigration policies. After the news of the transport broke, far Left advocates compared it to human trafficking and Nazi relocation programmes.

“Yes, Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha’s Vineyard today were part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations,” Taryn Fenske, communications director for Governor Ron DeSantis, told Fox News Digital.

“States like Massachusetts, New York and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden administration’s open border policies,” she added.

Progressive outrage

Martha’s Vineyard is a summer vacation destination, farm area and home to progressives such as former US President Barack Obama with a year-round population of 20,000.

According to Democrat advocate Lindi Li Relocating, illegal immigrants to the island is human trafficking.

DeSantis misused $12 million in taxpayers funds to traffic migrants to Martha’s Vineyard

Abbott misused $14 million in taxpayers funds to traffic migrants to DC, NY, & IL

Brett Favre stole $5 million from welfare funds to build a new stadium

These are the real welfare queens

Other progressives like former CNN reporter Jacki Schechner compared the programme to Nazi relocations.

The Nazis had a relocation program.

Hypocrisy, out in the open

“Martha’s Vineyard claims to be a ‘sanctuary’ jurisdiction that welcomes illegal aliens. Most of those multi million dollar mansions are summer homes that are vacant most of the year,” Christina Pushaw, a spokesperson for DeSantis’ reelection campaign, said on Twitter.

Even some celebrities pointed out the hypocrisy of the people not wanting to accept the newly arrived illegal immigrants.

“How dare the people in Martha’s Vineyard that scream for tolerance and acceptance not welcome the immigrants with open doors. Incredibly xenophobic,” actor, director, producer and author Kevin Sorbo wrote.

You get what you wish for

States cannot compel immigrants to move, so their consent is needed. Some accept because the journey takes them closer to their intended destinations.

Border states like Texas and Arizona have sent thousands of immigrants to cities such as New York, Chicago and Washington saying that Democratic areas should take more immigrants because they have encouraged immigration by failing to fully enforce immigration laws.

According to Homeland Security reports, there is a steady number of illegal migrants in the US, reaching 11.4 million in 2018.
