German economy minister vows to deliver more weapons to Ukraine

“We will deliver more,” German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said on Thursday during a meeting of G7 finance ministers at Neuhardenberg Castle in the state of Brandenburg, Germany.

He went on to add that “weapons deliveries will depend on the development of the war.”

Ukraine in need of reconstruction money

The German official told his counterparts that Ukraine needed 350 billion dollars for reconstruction, according to Kyiv’s own estimates.

“Reconstruction of Ukraine requires more than public money can offer,” he stressed.

Mr Habeck called for the creation of “a global fund with money from private investors, hedge funds and so on.” He also talked about plans “to use trade to stabilise Ukraine once again.”

Also on that day, the German economy minister met his Ukrainian counterpart. Mr Habeck struck an upbeat note reflecting that he saw the possibility of victory for democracy in Ukraine.
