The chairman of the Supreme Council of Ukraine has expressed his gratitude to Poland and the Polish people for “everything they have been doing for Ukraine.”

Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his appreciation following his meetings with the Sejm, lower house of parliament, Speaker Elżbieta Witek and with Senate Speaker Tomasz Grodzki, in Warsaw, on Monday.

“Allow me thank all Poles for opening their homes and hearts, for accepting Ukrainians who now feel at home here, but who are also aware of the fact that this is your home,” Stefanchuk said.

Stefanchuk also pointed out that he had invited the Sejm and Senate speakers to attend a Crimea Platform summit. “I hope that this summit will debate issues concerning the building of a new system of global security,” he added.

The Crimea Platform is a diplomatic initiative of Ukraine and its president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, established in 2021 to focus on the 2014 annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation and the protection of human rights of Crimean Tatars, among other things.

According to Stefanchuk, his Warsaw talks also focused on the possibility of recognising Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism or as a terrorist state. “This is extremely significant for bringing Russia to justice for the crimes it has committed,” he concluded.
