Pulse of Culture 20.07

In this episode of TVP World’s Pulse of Culture, our programme’s host Agata Konarska took a closer look at the Saaremaa Opera Festival. All kinds of music can be heard at the event, stemming from jazz to electronic acoustic music. The festival offers concerts and theatre shows.

The main performer of the festival is the Silesian Opera, established in 1945 in Bytom, in southern Poland, by a famous Polish singer, Adam Didur.

This episode also featured the discovery of a hidden self-portrait of Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh, which was hidden behind one of his paintings. The painting was discovered during an x-ray examination of Van Gogh’s 1885 painting titled “Head of a Peasant Woman”, for an upcoming exhibition.

Other events covered in this episode include the Tota Italia: Origins of a Nation exhibition, the annual Polonaise dance performed by Polish high school graduates at the Cathedral Square in Vilnius, and Festival of Light in Hungary.
