The EU members have reached a consensus to ban imports of Russian gold, Poland’s foreign minister informed on Monday in Brussels.

Zbigniew Rau said during a meeting of EU foreign ministers that the ban was part of a Friday-passed seventh package of sanctions on Russia after its February invasion of Ukraine.

Rau added that he hoped the ban will also embrace all Russian jewellery.

The European Commission on Friday adopted a draft of new sanctions against Russia. Beside the ban on export of Russian gold it also strengthens export controls in the field of dual-use and high-tech products, and adds over 50 people and entities involved in supporting the Russian regime to the sanctions lists.
