Russian aggression will affect world economies, societies: Deputy PM at UN Security Council

The war consequences will go far beyond Ukraine, as the effects of the Russian invasion will be felt in economies and societies around the world. Immediate and long-term policies that will mitigate the impact of the Russian aggression have to be set out and implemented as quickly as possible, said Piotr Gliński, the Polish Deputy Prime Minister, in his speech to the UN Security Council on Thursday.

The topic of the Polish Deputy Prime Minister’s speech was the situation in Ukraine and the global impact of the war.

During his visit to the US, the Polish Deputy Prime Minister also held a meeting with the UN Head Antonio Guterres, who has recently visited Moscow and Kyiv.

In his speech, Mr Gliński praised the Portuguese’s initiative, saying that any effort to restore peace makes sense, even in the lack of good will on the part of Russia. He also announced that Poland would not stop providing aid to Ukraine.

“Poland will not cease to both deliver aid on their own and to be a partner for any UN institution that is engaged in efforts to support Ukraine,” Mr Gliński said. He added that because the needs and the number of those in a plight are increasing every day, the entire international community should contribute to help.
