Poland, Moderna to discuss vaccines on Friday

AA/ABACA/PAP

The Polish Health Ministry and Moderna, one of the producers of Covid vaccines, will discuss changes to Poland’s vaccine purchase contract at an online conference on Friday, the ministry told PAP.

Poland wants to withdraw from further purchases of the Moderna vaccine, arguing that it needed the vaccine funds to finance the accommodation of over 2.5 million war refugees from Ukraine.

Poland has already said it will not accept or pay for any more vaccines from another producer, Pfizer.

“It is impossible not to see what is happening across our eastern border, nor the vast numbers of refugees that have arrived in Poland, and who must be provided with, among other things, medical care,” the ministry told PAP.
