French ambassador summoned by the Polish Foreign Ministry

Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau decided to summon the French ambassador in connection with comments made by French President Emmanuel Macron. The French head of state accused the Polish PM of “being an extreme right-wing anti-Semite who excludes LGBT people”.

In an interview for the French daily “Le Parisien”, Emmanuel Macron made derogatory comments about the head of the Polish government, adding that Mr Morawiecki wanted to help Marine Le Pen, the current right-wing candidate in the 2022 French Presidential elections, obtain the French presidency.

According to the Polish Ministry spokesman, the French diplomat was summoned by the Polish FM due to the statements made by President Macron in the “Le Parisien” interview.

One does not negotiate with criminals

Earlier this week, the Polish PM addressed Emmanuel Macron directly referencing his numerous talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, aimed to end Russia’s aggression on Ukraine. “President Macron, how many times have you negotiated with Putin, what have you achieved? Have you stopped any of the actions that have taken place?” Mateusz Morawiecki said.

He added that “one does not negotiate with criminals, criminals must be fought”.

“Nobody negotiated with Hitler. Would you negotiate with Hitler? Would you negotiate with Stalin? Would you negotiate with Pol Pot?” the Polish PM asked rhetorically.
