Ukraine hunting down troops who carried out massacres in the Kyiv region

Ukraine’s military and media are after Russia’s troops who carried out the massacres in the Kyiv region, with some social media nicknames and units already made public.

Via his Telegram channel, Ukrainian President Zelensky’s military aide Oleksiy Arestovych reportedly revealed the names of units and subdivisions of the Russian army that carried out the murders, tortures, and rapes of Ukrainian citizens in the towns of Bucha, Gostomel and Irpin, Kyiv region, Ukraine.

According to the Odessa Journal, these are:

64th brigade 35 A of the Eastern Military District;

5th team 36 of the Eastern Military District;

331st parachute regiment, 98th parachute division;

137th parachute regiment, 106th parachute division;

104th and 234th air assault regiment, 76th air assault regiment;

14th and 45th separate guards brigades of special purpose;

63rd Special Police Detachment;

155th Naval Infantry Brigade of the Pacific Fleet.

Work is underway to identify all soldiers that are part of Unit 51460 of the 64th Motor Rifle Brigade from Khabarovsk (near Vladivostok).

The unit allegedly played a leading role in the Bucha Massacre.

Its commander is Omurbekov Azatbek Asanbekovich.

The 64th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade (Military Unit Number 51460), which features on top of the list, is a motorised infantry brigade of the Russian Ground Forces. Based at Knyaze-Volkonskoye, near Khabarovsk, the brigade is part of the Eastern Military District’s 35th Army.

The brigade traces its heritage back to the 882nd Motor Rifle Regiment, which transferred to the Far East in 1967. In 2009, the regiment was converted into a brigade.

If the brigade’s participation in the massacre is corroborated, it will confirm reports that Moscow has been moving troops from the far eastern parts of Russia to pit them against Ukrainian forces. This is because Khabarovsk, the largest city and the administrative centre of Khabarovsk Krai, is located some 340 km from the Pacific Ocean.
