American F-18 fighter jets flew into a Polish military airbase on Monday, the defence minister has said, as Nato beefs up the military presence on its eastern flank amid Russia’s war on Ukraine.
“American F-18 fighters arrived at the Łask air base,” Mariusz Błaszczak wrote on Twitter.
“It is a clear symbol of allied support and a strong strengthening of Nato’s eastern flank,” he added but did not say how many F-18s had landed at the base.
The 32nd Tactical Air Base of the Polish Air Force is located in Łask, central Poland. American F-35 fighters that Poland is set to receive will also be stationed there.
