Friendly match between Poland and Brazil possible: Polish coach

The Polish national football team could play a friendly match with the number one national football team in the world – Brazil, Czesław Michniewicz the Polish team coach said in an interview with RMF a Polish private radio broadcaster. The match would take place on November 16 in Warsaw and would be the last test before the World Cup.

“There is a discussion about one friendly match. We will gather on November 14 and on November 16 we would like to play in Warsaw – if we manage to contract a strong team from South or Central America. There is a chance that it will be Brazil, but we are still far from signing the documents,” the Polish coach stressed.

He emphasised that he was looking for a rival from this part of the world because Poland will face Mexico and Argentina in the group phase of the World Cup in Qatar.

Before that, between June and September, the red and white’s will play a total of six UEFA Nations League matches against European rivals: Wales, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Mr Michniewicz also revealed that the Polish team has already selected a hotel in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

“Everything is under control. We have been with the entire delegation of the Polish Football Association, everything is perfectly prepared. We will have two pitches at our disposal. We will play two matches there,” he stated.

Poland’s win against Sweden

Poland qualified for the World Cup thanks to a 2-0 win over Sweden in the play-off final. The competition in group C of the World Cup will begin with a match against Mexico on November 22. Four days later they will face Saudi Arabia and on November 30 they will play Argentina.

“Getting out of the group would be the first stage, and what happens next – we will see. The day after the match with Sweden I got a call from our former Polish team selector, a fantastic coach, who twice led the team to the World Cup and won a medal, Mr Antoni Piechniczek, and wished me with all his heart to improve on his result ,” Mr Michniewicz concluded.

The World Cup will be played between November 21 and December 18.
