Germany is responsible for ongoing war: Polish-German historian

According to Professor Bogdan Musiał, Germany bears the responsibility for the ongoing war in the East. As he pointed out, the sudden change of the country’s rhetoric towards Russia after February 24 does not change the fact that the money financing the war continues to flow to Moscow as the German government still buys oil and gas from the aggressor.

“Ever since Vladimir Putin came to power, there has been an energy geopolitical alliance between Germany and Russia,” Mr Musiał said, stressing that German governments over the years have all accepted the sphere of the Kremlin’s influence, reaching up to the border with Poland.

“What is happening today – the outbreak of the war, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, is Germany’s fault. Germany is responsible for it,” he stressed, pointing out that many states, including Poland, were warning the country against fraternising with Vladimir Putin, but the German elites refused to listen and upheld their policy.

“One can say that Angela Merkel [former German Chancellor] and the SPD [one of Germany’s two major parties along with the Union parties (CDU/CSU)] have blood of Ukrainian children on their hands,” he added.

“The facts are that despite the change in German rhetoric towards Russia after the invasion of Ukraine, Russia continues to deliver oil and gas to the West – to Germany, and money to finance the war flows to Moscow,” the historian pointed out.
