Firm stance needed to stop Russia’s aggression: Poland’s dep FM

The European Union and its partners should feel a responsibility towards finding a solution to the crisis concerning refugees fleeing the Russian invasion of Ukraine, said Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk on Sunday during a press conference in Dorohusk, Lubelskie province.

He stressed that only the strong resolve of all politicians in Europe could stop the aggression of Russian President Vladimir Putin. “We must stop him in order to put an end to the suffering of women and children,” he said.

Since the conference was attended by a delegation of German MPs, Szynkowski vel Sęk added: “I very clearly expressed to our guests from Germany that support in the context of the transfer of defensive weapons to Ukraine must be continued and strengthened, because Ukraine is valiantly defending itself and needs our solidarity and our support.”

The politician also stated that even harsher sanctions have to be placed on Russia: “We demand an embargo on gas, an embargo on oil, an embargo on coal,” and added that “we are counting on our partners to maintain solidarity on these issues.”
