We’re not alone with enemy, Polish brothers and sisters are with us: Zelenskiy

“We were not left alone with the enemy, Polish brothers and sisters are with us and it’s natural. On the first day of the war, it was clear to Ukrainians and Poles that there were no boundaries between us – physical, historical, personal and human,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said.

In his online address to the Polish National Assembly, the Upper and Lower Houses of the Parliament, he underlined that Ukraine has a friend who offers a helping hand.

“After 16 days of this war, Ukrainian pride and Polish honour, Ukrainian boldness in battles and Polish honesty support each other, allow us to say that there is peace between our nations, peace between families, between brothers. And I would like these words to be felt by our eastern neighbours”, Zelensky said.

He also expressed the conviction that peace and good relations would also be achieved between Ukraine and Belarus. Zelenskiy related to Belarusians as brothers and neighbours.

Poland is a very committed and appreciated NATO member: Stoltenberg

The Polish National Assembly was also addressed online by the NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, who said that Poland is a very committed and appreciated member of the Alliance. He thanked the Polish people for supporting Ukraine and for accepting refugees who flee the war-torn country.

“Poland contributes to our common security”, Stoltenberg said.

He praised Poland for its courage in dangerous times and indicated that Poles offered Ukrainians support in the worst refugee crisis since World War II.

“You are supporting Ukraine in its right to self-defence, while this war affects the lives of innocent Ukrainians and has an impact on the security of Europe and the world order,” NATO Secretary-General said.

He reminded that NATO allies have been supporting Ukraine for many years and in recent weeks donated anti-tank weapons to help save the lives of Ukrainians.
