“The authorities of the Republic of Poland, after consultations between the President and the Government, are ready to deploy – immediately and free of charge – all their MIG-29 jets to the Ramstein Air Base and place them at the disposal of the Government of the US,” Zbigniew Rau, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, wrote in a statement published on Tuesday on social media.

“At the same time, Poland requests the US to provide us with used aircraft with corresponding operational capabilities. Poland is ready to immediately establish the conditions of purchase of the planes,” he added.
As the minister concluded, “the Polish Government also requests other NATO Allies – owners of MIG-29 jets – to act in the same vein.”
On Sunday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the country was considering sending planes to Poland if Warsaw decided to hand over its MIG-29 jet fighters to Ukraine. Representatives of the Polish authorities later assured that no decision had been taken on this matter, and that such decisions should be made within NATO.
