A decision on whether to permanently station Nato troops in Poland is a matter for the North Atlantic Alliance, US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday.

Biden made the comment in Washington outside the White House as he approached the Marine One helicopter, in answer to a Polish Radio journalist’s question about the stationing of a permanent Nato contingent in Poland and other countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Biden also said allied forces had long been on Nato’s eastern flank. On the subject of whether Russia is committing war crimes in Ukraine, the US president said it was too early to talk about the matter.
