“Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki established inter-ministerial teams that will coordinate the process of accomodating by Poland refugees and injured people from Ukraine,” Mr Dworczyk wrote on social media.

The PM declared on Wednesday that he will create such a team that will watch over the process of providing help to refugees in case of the Russia-Ukraine war. “The war may cause an exodus from Ukraine, we must be prepared for the worst,” Mateusz Morawiecki has said.

We are here to defend the eastern flank of NATO, but we are helping Ukraine and Ukrainians also due to humanitarian reasons so that if Russia attacks we can mitigate the effects of such an attack,” the PM said on Wednesday, adding that the whole infrastructure in the eastern part of Poland would be ready for such a scenario, but it would also be possible to move people deeper into the country’s territory.

On Friday, in a podcast, Mr Morawiecki addressed the situation regarding Ukraine. “We are getting ready for all sorts of possibilities, including the worst scenarios. But all this time we believe that Moscow will reflect on its actions and withdraw its armed troops from the Ukrainian border,” he emphasised.

The PM will take part in the Munich Security Conference on Saturday.
