The Sejm, the lower house of parliament, on Thursday rejected all 65 amendments made by the upper house to Poland’s 2022 budget bill.

Among the Senate’s proposed changes were increasing the subsidy for the National Health Fund by PLN 20 billion (EUR 4.4 bln), allocating PLN 10 billion (EUR 2.2 bln) for energy transformation and PLN 6.5 billion (EUR 1.4 bln) for pay rises for teachers.

The bill will now go to the president for signing.

The Sejm approved the 2022 budget bill on December 17, 2021, with budget receipts settled at PLN 491.9 billion (EUR 108 bln), spending planned at PLN 521.8 billion (EUR 114 bln), and the deficit capped at PLN 29.9 billion (EUR 6.6 bln).

The Polish Finance Ministry has based the 2022 budget bill on GDP growth of 4.6 percent and an inflation rate of 3.3 percent.
