No plans to evacuate families of Polish diplomats from Ukraine- MFA

Poland has no plans to evacuate the families of its embassy staff in Kyiv, the deputy foreign minister has said, despite the US ordering relatives of its embassy staff to leave.

On Sunday evening, the US State Department told family members to begin evacuating on Monday, citing Russian invasion concerns.

Pawel Jablonski told PAP on Monday that at the families of Polish diplomats will stay put, but he added that the ministry was “closely monitoring the situation”.

According to the US State Department, the Sunday move came amid rising tensions related to the increased presence of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine.

The US State Department officials said that the embassy will remain open and the announcement does not constitute an evacuation. They added that the move had been under consideration for some time and does not reflect a decline in US support for Ukraine.
