Police seize 300 guns in gang raid

The Police Central Investigation Bureau (CBŚP) seized 300 firearms, grenades, detonators and 3,000 rounds of ammunition in a series of raids across the country.

Seven people were arrested during the operation that involved over 100 police officers in eight Polish provinces, according to CBŚP spokeswoman Iwona Jurkiewicz.

“It is a huge blow against the illegal gun trade,” the spokeswoman said. “The CBŚP officers searched close to 30 facilities and arrested seven suspects. (…) Some of the guns were hidden in special caches,” she added.

“The crimes suspects have been charged with, carry a penalty of up to 10 years in prison,” the prosecutor’s office informed.

Iwona Jurkiewicz added that the case is not closed and that the police have not ruled out further arrests.
